Roles and responsibilities

1. Vehicle Operation and Maintenance:

• Safe Driving: Operate vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to traffic laws and company policies. Ensure that all transportation is done safely, efficiently, and within legal requirements.
• Route Planning: Plan the most efficient and cost-effective routes for deliveries or pick-ups, taking into consideration traffic conditions, road closures, or other obstacles.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Regularly inspect the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition. Report any maintenance issues, perform minor repairs (if qualified), and ensure the vehicle is kept clean and presentable at all times.
• Fuel Management: Monitor fuel usage and manage fuel consumption efficiently. Ensure that the vehicle has enough fuel for the day's journey, and report any fuel issues to management.

2. Deliveries and Collections:

• Product Delivery: Ensure that goods, such as furniture, electrical appliances, or other products, are delivered to customers or other business locations in a timely manner and in good condition.
• Customer Interaction: Act as a point of contact with customers during deliveries, providing courteous and professional service. Ensure the correct products are delivered, and handle any special delivery instructions or requests.
• Delivery Documentation: Accurately complete and provide the required documentation for deliveries, including delivery notes, receipts, or proof of delivery (POD). Ensure all paperwork is signed by customers where applicable.
• Product Pickup: If required, pick up returned items, product samples, or materials from suppliers, customers, or other company locations, ensuring the items are securely loaded and transported.

3. Inventory and Order Management:

• Loading and Unloading: Assist in the loading and unloading of products in a safe and efficient manner. Ensure that items are loaded securely to avoid damage during transit.
• Inventory Check: Verify that the products to be delivered match the orders. Check the inventory to ensure there are no discrepancies in quantity or product type before leaving the warehouse or store.
• Record Keeping: Maintain records of all deliveries and collections, ensuring accurate documentation of all transactions. Report any issues or discrepancies to the relevant department (e.g., warehouse or sales).

4. Customer Service:

• Timely Deliveries: Ensure deliveries are made within the promised time frame, maintaining good customer relations. Notify customers of any delays or changes to delivery schedules.
• Handling Customer Queries: Address any customer queries or concerns related to the delivery, such as confirming the status of an order, handling damaged goods, or assisting with return processes.
• Professionalism: Maintain a positive and professional demeanor when interacting with customers, ensuring that customers have a pleasant experience during the delivery process.

• Driving Skills: Excellent driving skills and the ability to operate vehicles safely, whether small delivery vans, trucks, or larger vehicles.
