Job Description
Lead Structural Engineer
Full Time in Pasadena CA
Hours:
This is a nonexempt position from Monday through Friday. Work hours are as established by the local manager and generally begin and end between 7:00 am to 8:00 am start and 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm end with onehour break for lunch and two rest breaks. Eight hours per day is required and other occasional overtime may be necessary per business needs.
Position Requirements:
- BS in Structural or Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer license highly desirable but not required. Must be able to obtain within a short period of time
- 3 years of experience with a Structural Engineering Firm or Seismic Bracing Firm
- Excellent understanding of engineering and design fundamentals
- Excellent familiarity with building codes and industry standards
- Thorough understanding of seismic bracing design attachment design supplemental support design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Revit or Bluebeam or similar drafting software preferred
- Knowledgeable with 3D modeling software to create design and installation packages
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work independently with limited oversight as well as part of a highly collaborative team
- Strong organizational skills attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multitask
General Job Description:
This position is responsible for independently delivering engineering services from conceptual design through construction completion.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Complete project planning coordination and execution with some oversight
- Independently complete conceptual design through construction drawing development for large complex project or multiple projects simultaneously
- Appropriate engagement of engineering applications and/or managers in project decisions
- Proactively communicate and coordinate project designs with Project Management Construction and Service departments Controls and other trade partners
- Field engineering: assist with project execution trade coordination scheduling document management and problem solving/troubleshooting as required
- Effectively and professionally communicate with colleagues and project team members
- Manage time to meet project schedules and task deadlines
- Strong understanding of engineering standards and project execution processes
- Equipment anchorage calculations and PE wet stamped installation package including BOM
- Equipment vibration isolation calculations and PE wet stamped installation package including BOM
- Design roof top duct and pipe supports and PE stamped installation package including BOM
- Riser duct and pipe supports and PE stamped installation package
- Seismic restraint calculations for duct and pipe
- Roof structure verification of existing structures for equipment replacement
- Structural design of equipment skids
- Design of supplemental steel for equipment duct or pipe supports including BOM
- Create templates and standard designs for supports attachments and seismic bracing that creates an economy of scale that is cost effective to install and build
- Other duties as assigned by Manager
