Job Description
Northwest Partners is seeking an experienced hybrid Security Engineer to work on a project with one of our premier clients in Las Vegas Nevada. Applicants must be eligible to work for any U.S. employer without the need for additional visa sponsorship.
What YOU Will Do:- Serve in a lead technical role on the Information Security team within the Information Technology Division.
- Work with information security leadership to develop strategies and plans to enforce security requirements and address identified risks.
- Act as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) on information security system development and best practices.
- Assist with risk assessment activities including analyzing audit results to recommend acceptable risk and risk mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with other Information Security and Information Technology staff to develop remediation plans addressing identified vulnerabilities.
- Participate in critical IT projects to ensure security issues are addressed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Help define security configuration and operations standards for security systems and applications including policy assessment compliance tools network security appliances and hostbased security systems.
- Implement and validate baseline security configurations for operating systems applications and networking and telecommunications equipment.
- Deploy tune and run vulnerability scanning and penetrationtesting tools with moderate supervision.
- Assist in the development of security architecture policies principles and standards.
- Research evaluate test and recommend new or updated information security technologies.
- Monitor daily or weekly reports and security logs for unusual events and trends.
- Provide second and thirdlevel support and analysis during and after security incidents.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends security news and best practices.
- Participate in security investigations and compliance reviews as requested by internal or external auditors.
- A bachelors degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- A high level of personal integrity with the ability to handle confidential matters professionally and exercise appropriate judgment and maturity.
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills for leadership technical and business audiences.
- Poise and the ability to act calmly and competently in highpressure highstress situations.
- Strong critical thinking and problemsolving skills.
- Detailoriented selfmotivated and disciplined with excellent time management skills.
- Experience with threat analysis and event tuning.
- Excellent technical knowledge of security systems including firewalls intrusion detection systems cryptographic systems and antivirus software.
- Strong understanding of IP TCP/IP and other network administration protocols.
- Experience with planning deploying and operating large enterprise security management tools such as IDS/IPS (network and host) advanced antimalware (network and endpoint) DLP encryption antivirus firewalls identity management NAC etc.
- Proficiency with Windows (desktop and server) OS X and Linux at a hardening and configuration management level.
- Specific knowledge of authentication technologies such as AD NIS Duo Security LDAP RADIUS TACACS 802.1x NAC Microsoft Certificate Services and PKI.
- Experience with penetration and vulnerability testing techniques and tools.
- Strong consideration given for CISSP or SANS certification particularly the following:
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer: Security
- (ISC) SCCP
- (ISC) CISSP
- (ISC) ISSAP
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain any required licensing or active work cards for this position at all times.
