Job Overview
Job Purpose The Accountant will manage the businesses financial operations ensuring accuracy timeliness and compliance with all financial regulations. This role involves overseeing financial transactions preparing reports managing budgets and ensuring the businesss profitability through strategic financial management.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze monthly quarterly and annual financial statements and provide insights and analysis on financial trends variances and business performance.
Prepare detailed budgets and forecasts in alignment with business goals.
Maintain the general ledger ensuring the accuracy of financial entries.
Perform reconciliation for bank accounts suppliers and customer accounts.
Monitor operational costs and suggest costsaving strategies.
Collaborate with department heads to establish and monitor budgets. Track departmental spending and highlight areas of inefficiency.
Ensure all expenses including payroll and supplier payments are processed accurately and on time.
Ensure 100% compliance with all tax regulations including PAYE Consumption tax VAT WHT and other statutory requirements.
Liaise with external auditors tax authorities and regulatory bodies during audits and inspections.
Manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for daytoday operations monitor cash balances and prepare cash flow forecasts.
Collaborate with inventory and store managers to ensure proper inventory reporting.
Use accounting software to manage and maintain financial records.
Assist with implementing financial systems and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
B.Sc. in Finance related field ICAN/ACCA is an added advantage.
34 years of experience in accounting preferably in the hospitality industry.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks Xero or similar).
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting and tax regulations.
Strong knowledge of solid minerals testing methods, including chemical composition analysis (XRF, ICP, AAS) and physical property testing (hardness, density, etc.). Familiarity with minerals such as lithium, tantalite, and tin. Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 17025) and laboratory accreditation. Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in staff training and development. Proficiency with LIMS and data analysis software. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail. Strong communication skills for data reporting and collaboration with internal teams and clients. Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in laboratory operations.
Education
Bachelor s degree in Chemistry, Geology, Metallurgy, or a related scientific discipline. A Master s degree is preferred. 7 10 years of laboratory experience, with at least 3 5 years in a supervisory role, preferably in the solid minerals or mining sector.
