Job Description

Job Title: Data Technician

Duty Station: Nairobi

Type of Employment: Contract

DUTIES:
Contribute to data management systems (collation processing and storage) and tools
Support and develop existing tools and systems used for data capture.
Respond to ICT support requests from field agents in a timely manner
Write procedures and software to import/ export data from/to appropriate database systems and share these for further analyses and interpretation
Implement and monitor Quality Assurance (QA) protocols and routines including safe and remote backup of database systems and tools
Keep up to date with the latest tools and resources including opensource software for the collection management storage and sharing of information
Ensure the confidentiality and security of information collected and all relevant data management systems

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
At least BSc in Computer programming/science
Experience in writing and maintaining Android applications (Highly desirable)
Experience in writing and maintaining API endpoints (Symfony framework)
Experience of data management for research projects particularly biological and agricultural topics
Experience of ODK/ONA
Use of Github or other version control system
