    You will be responsible for leading and supporting the development team including our subsidiary in the Philippines to enhance our main business service product Online Business English Conversation.

    Specifically your tasks will include:

    • Planning designing and implementing product enhancement development
    • Designing and building system architecture
    • Managing development projects
    • Conducting design and implementation reviews and improving quality
    • Training engineers

    The development work is not complex or largescale. You will be involved in a wide range of functions across backend frontend and web applications. Currently our Japanese development team is small so most of the work involves planning and requirement definition for new features answering questions from the business department and handling smallscale development and maintenance operations that can be completed in a few weeks. In the future we aim to strengthen the development framework in Japan with the goal of enabling Japanese engineers to develop services for Japanese users while Filipino engineers will develop services for Filipino users.

    Requirements for this Position

    Team Composition: 40 members (30 in the Philippines / 10 in Japan)

    There are 10 engineers active in Japan 7 of whom are foreign nationals. While both English and Japanese may be used in some situations there is support available from other team members for English so as long as you are not allergic to it there should be no problem.

    We expect you to take the initiative to engage handson while effectively communicating requirements to the development team in the Philippines. You should also provide guidance on design issue directives and demonstrate leadership within the team.

    Additionally as we expand the number of Japanese development members and broaden our development areas you can eventually aim for technical specialist or managerial positions. Initially we would like you to lead the technical development team but we would also love to hear about your future career aspirations.

  • The amount will be determined upon consultation taking experience and other factors into consideration.
