The UPS Technician is responsible for managing and performing the maintenance and repair of all critical power equipment within the assigned region. This individual teams with other Service Engineers and multiple crossfunctional departments to achieve the optimal functioning level for the company. This individual will also conduct training with the inhouse Field Service team along with service customers. This position requires frequent travel to customer sites including overnight trips for extended period as needed. The ability to work on weekends and oncall is required.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for the timely maintenance and repairs of all critical power equipment to ensure full operability 24/7.
Performs commissioningfocused design reviews prepares commissioning test procedures and reports coordinates and oversees onsite testing.
Prioritizes and complete work order requests to Service; oversees each job is performed at a high level of skill and with optimal customer service.
Must be able to discuss with technical support problems related to maintenance or operation of equipment.
Establishes and maintains key business relationships with a diverse network of vendors around the region.
Perform scheduled training courses with customers and service technicians.
Leads trains and guides direct reports and ensures the appropriate resources are available to perform job tasks.
Assesses current Facility Services processes and programs and recommends solutions to improve operability.
Ensures excellent customer service internally and externally to address complaints and resolve problems.
Leads the development of Methods of Procedures (MOPs) and Scopes of Work (SOW).
Perform basic operation training with customers in a classroom setting.
When not involved in scheduled preventive maintenance emergency response equipment startup and/or field modification UPS Technicians will occasionally train at the companys main office testing equipment or rebuilding older systems.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum of two (2) years of Power Systems Battery Technologies and / or Electronic Experience (coursework and internship experience apply).
An electrical technology certificate from an Accredited Institution is preferred but not required.
A High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution is required.
Must possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted State Drivers license.
Must have the ability and willingness to undergo and pass customer entrance requirements which may include but is not limited to periodic background checks and drug screenings.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Ability to read schematic drawings and knowledge of troubleshooting test and repair techniques.
Willing to work weekends.
Willing to travel.
