Key Responsibilities
- Guide on isolation protocols and assist bed managers and nurse supervisors in making decisions upon request. provides advice on infection prevention and control matters to all hospital departments.
- Keeps accurate and pertinent written records about the treatment of patients.
- By routinely conferring with the Head of Infection Prevention Control establishes a supportive atmosphere within the department that is attentive to the problems and requirements of the community.
- Encourages risk management techniques health and safety in a safe healthcare setting.
- Serves as an organizations leader and role model for infection prevention control.
- As needed speaks on behalf of the infection prevention control team in regional national and worldwide conferences.
- Become a change agent by putting study results into practice to improve infection control procedures and guarantee patient safety.
Requirements
- NMBI Registered General Nurse license in good standing.
- 5 years postregistration experience.
- 2 years of clinical experience in infection prevention control preferred.
- Possess a level 8 postregistration major academic award from the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland (or its equivalent) which is pertinent to the specialty of infection prevention control nursing or possess another clinically related qualification in the same field.
