- Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching methods to support students with disabilities.
- Conduct assessments to identify students’ strengths and areas for improvement.
- Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals.
- Adjust instructional strategies based on ongoing assessment data.
- Work closely with general education teachers paraprofessionals and other support staff.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and IEP goals.
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with the IEP team to develop and review plans.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Implement behavior management strategies to support student engagement and learning.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and instructional strategies.
- Attend professional development workshops and training sessions.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share resources and strategies.
Qualifications: - Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience working with elementaryaged students with disabilities.
- Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations.
- Experience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
- Knowledge of behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and functional behavior assessments (FBAs).
- Familiarity with inclusive education practices.
