Design for Equity: Product Designer for an MIT Startup Revolutionizing Cancer Screening
Position Overview:
As a Product Designer you will play a critical role in designing a stateoftheart Smart Connected Capsule Product that will revolutionize the field of gastrointestinal diagnostics. This product will leverage cuttingedge technology to enable noninvasive visualization and monitoring of the human digestive system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conceptualization and Ideation: Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to conceptualize and develop design ideas for the Smart Capsule Product. Generate innovative and usercentric concepts that address both medical and patient needs.
- Prototyping and Testing: Create detailed product prototypes and mockups ensuring that designs are technically feasible and meet usability and regulatory requirements. Conduct user testing and gather feedback to refine the products design.
- Product Design: Develop detailed product designs including product form user interfaces and visual elements. Ensure the design is ergonomic userfriendly and aesthetically appealing.
- Material Selection: Research and select appropriate materials ensuring they are safe for medical use and meet regulatory standards.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with engineers clinicians and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of design concepts with technical requirements.
- UserCentered Design: Champion a usercentered design approach focusing on the needs and expectations of both healthcare professionals and patients.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation including design specifications drawings and design rationale.
- Design Iteration: Continuously iterate on the design based on feedback testing and changing project requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Industrial Design Product Design or a related field.
- Handson skills in product design and prototype making.
- Proficiency in design software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite 3D modeling tools).
- Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
- Creativity and innovation in design thinking.
