Who were looking for:
VML is seeking a talented and passionate Graphic Designer / Junior Art Director with a passion for book design to join our growing team. In this role you will be responsible for the visual design and production of highquality books and publications in both Arabic and English for our esteemed clients. If you have a keen eye for detail a passion for typography and a collaborative spirit we encourage you to apply!
What youll be doing:
- Book Cover Design: Conceptualize design and adapt visually appealing and engaging covers for a diverse range of books in both Arabic and English reflecting the essence of each publication and meeting client briefs.
- Page Layout and Typesetting: Design and implement aesthetically pleasing and functional page layouts for books and special projects ensuring readability and adherence to client style guidelines.
- Illustration Quality Control: Review and evaluate illustrations submitted by external illustrators providing constructive feedback and implementing necessary modifications to maintain client standards.
- Vendor Management: Source and procure quotations from local printing suppliers in Qatar building and maintaining strong relationships to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery for client projects.
- PrePress Production: Prepare final printready files for books and artworks liaising with printing suppliers throughout the production process to ensure exceptional print quality and adherence to specifications.
What youll need:
- Bachelors degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
- Minimum 35 years of proven experience in book design including cover design typesetting and layout.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of design projects particularly in book publishing.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign Photoshop Illustrator) is essential.
- Excellent understanding of printing processes and prepress production.
- Fluency in both Arabic and English with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent client management and communication skills.
- Technical acumen to be able to operate configure set up and fix video audio lighting or other production equipment.
