Job Description

job status: Accepting Candidates 1. General Job Duties Types of procedures required:
Reporting to the Short Stay Unit and Discharge Hospitality Center Unit Patient Care Manager and according to department policies/nursing care standards functions as a member of the Patient Care Team to provide professional nursing care services to patients admitted transferred and discharged from us. In doing so the Team RN will demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served (ages 16 through adult). Responsible for assessing planning implementing and evaluating nursing care provided to assigned patients. The following are general characteristics of this job although duties may vary by assigned shift. Registered Professional Nurses are licensed professionals empowered to participate in an interdisciplinary approach to meet the expectations of those we serve.

Epic electronic medical record.
3. Required skills and minimum years of experience General medical Level of Care experience preferred. All RN s are competencied to general medical nursing.
2 years Med/surg experience
4. Required Licenses and Certs
RN IL license BLS (American Heart)
5. Shift of Schedule requirements
No Call.
Every other weekend (Saturday / Sunday on Day Shift and either Friday / Saturday or Saturday / Sunday on night shift to follow unit patterns)
Every other Holiday (Days holidays are: Thanksgiving Christmas New Year Day Memorial Day 4th of July and Labor Day. Nights holidays are: Thanksgiving Eve Christmas Eve New Years Eve Memorial Day Eve the 3rd of July Nights and Labor day Eve)
6. Floating to other units/departments
Yes all nurses in department are Gen Med competencied and therefore may be asked to float to any Gen Med unit throughout hospital. Travelers Float First
7. Bed size/number of rooms in the unit:
SSU is curretnly a 13 Bed unit we have been approved/ plan to expand to up to an additonal 10 beds in new expanded location.
8. Nurse to Patient Ratio
1:45; 25/7
9. Dress Code:
No childish scrub characters as we are an adult unit.
10. Unit/Department Orientation Information:
Travelers will have 1st day Epic training and HealthStream work then will receive 2 12hr. shifts with unit preceptor.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the unit. This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical emotional and psychosocial needs of the patient population served.
2. Work requires a professional level of knowledge of nursing practice and theory at a level that generally can be acquired by completion and graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
3. Current State license as a Registered Nurse required.
4. Work requires six to ten weeks unitspecific orientation and onthejob training to learn department/unit policies procedures and work routines; to develop proficiency in use of medical equipment and instruments used on assigned unit; to learn nursing care and quality assurance standards; and gain an understanding of the types of patients cared for on unit their needs and effective nursing interventions.
5. Work requires the interpersonal skills necessary to comfort patients family members and/or significant others; to communicate effectively and concisely with other patient care providers; and to instruct patients family members and/or significant others in selfcare/home care procedures.
6. Work requires analytical ability necessary to assess patients physical psychological and social needs develops individualized patient care plans and evaluate patients responses to medical and nursing interventions.Name of Position Requirements
