Overview:
The OT (Operation Theatre) Technician plays a vital role in the healthcare organization by ensuring the smooth functioning of the operation theatre and providing technical support to the surgical team. They are responsible for preparing and maintaining the operation theatre as well as assisting during surgical procedures. Their attention to detail and technical expertise directly impact the success of surgical interventions making their role essential to the organizations healthcare service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operation theatre for surgical procedures
- Ensure all surgical equipment is sterilized and in working order
- Assist the surgical team during procedures
- Monitor patients during surgery
- Maintain a sterile and organized environment in the operation theatre
- Handle and care for surgical instruments
- Set up and operate medical equipment
- Document and maintain records of surgical procedures
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations
- Provide support and assistance to the surgical team as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology or related field
- Previous experience as an OT Technician or surgical technologist
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control
- Ability to operate and maintain medical equipment
- Strong understanding of surgical procedures and protocols
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a highpressure environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic life support (BLS) certification
- Understanding of medical terminology and anatomy
