Job Description

This role is for one of the Weekdays clients

We are seeking a seasoned and visionary Vice President of Engineering to lead our engineering team and drive the strategic development of our technology initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in AWS Spring Boot and Java with a proven track record of leading highperforming teams in a fastpaced agile environment. You will collaborate closely with product management operations and other crossfunctional teams to build scalable and innovative solutions that align with our business goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor the engineering team fostering a culture of collaboration innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Drive the development and implementation of scalable robust and secure solutions using Java Spring Boot and AWS technologies.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to define the engineering roadmap ensuring alignment with business objectives and timelines.
  • Architect and implement bestinclass engineering practices focusing on high availability performance and scalability.
  • Oversee technical design architecture and implementation for complex distributed systems.
  • Ensure code quality and security through comprehensive testing code reviews and adherence to best practices.
  • Partner with product management to prioritize development efforts aligning technical solutions with business needs.
  • Drive adoption of cloudnative technologies ensuring efficient use of AWS infrastructure.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends integrating them where appropriate to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of engineering operations.
  • Manage and optimize the engineering budget ensuring resource allocation aligns with strategic priorities.

Key Requirements:
  • Experience: 10 years of experience in software engineering with at least 5 years in leadership roles such as VP of Engineering Director of Engineering or similar.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Extensive experience with Java and Spring Boot in designing and building scalable backend systems.
  • Indepth knowledge of AWS services and cloud infrastructure including EC2 S3 Lambda RDS and VPC.
  • Experience in microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
  • Leadership Skills:
  • Proven experience leading mentoring and growing large engineering teams.
  • Ability to drive a highperformance engineering culture.
  • Strong decisionmaking and problemsolving skills with a focus on delivering business outcomes.
  • Agile Methodologies: Handson experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies driving continuous delivery and iterative development processes.
  • Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a startup or fastgrowing company.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra.
