Head of Engineering

Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Roadmap:

• Define and execute the technical strategy in alignment with business goals.
• Own the technology roadmap and ensure the timely delivery of features.

Product Development:

• Lead the development of iOS and Android applications.
• Fullstack mobile application development across iOS and Android platforms.
• Develop consumer products using internal programming languages like Hack.
• Implement mobile interfaces using XHTML CSS and JavaScript.
• Collaborate with founding and design teams to define feature specifications and build products leveraging frameworks like React and React Native.
• Design and scale backend services focusing on operations and infrastructure.
• Build reporting interfaces and data feeds.
• Set direction and goals for the engineering team regarding project impact product quality and efficiency.

Recommender Systems:

• Design a core recommendation engine to enhance product discovery.
• Build largescale ecommerce recommendation systems including product user feed and story recommendations.
• Develop models for user interest analyze large datasets and design efficient algorithms.
• Build endtoend automated pipelines for AI/ML models including development validation recalibration and monitoring.
• Conduct A/B testing to iterate and optimize algorithms and models.
• Deploy and maintain machine learning models in production to ensure top performance.
• Design and optimize predictive models for tasks like ClickThrough Rate and Conversion Rate prediction.
• Develop supporting tools for debugging and enhancement as needed.

Scalability and Performance:

• Ensure apps can scale to handle high traffic and personalized recommendations without compromising performance.

Leadership and Team Development:

• Build and mentor a highperforming engineering team.
• Set clear goals provide constructive feedback and foster a collaborative and innovative culture.

CrossFunctional Collaboration:

• Work closely with product design and marketing teams to align technical efforts with the company s vision.

Security and Compliance:

• Oversee data privacy security protocols and regulatory compliance within engineering operations.

Innovation:

• Stay updated on industry trends especially in AI machine learning and mobile app development to ensure the platform remains cuttingedge.

Minimum Qualifications

Technical Expertise:

• Proven experience with the current tech stack:
• ML stack: Python.
• FrontEnd App Development: React Native React.js.
• Database Management: Atlas MongoDB.
• Cloud Platforms: Microsoft Azure.
• Strong knowledge of iOS and Android app development backend infrastructure and expertise in AI and machine learning applications for personalization.

Experience:

• A track record of building and scaling products from 0 to 1 preferably in ecommerce or AIdriven platforms.
• Entrepreneurial mindset; prior experience as a founder is a plus.

Leadership Skills:

• Proven experience in people management mentorship and building highperforming teams.

Adaptability:

• Comfortable working in a fastpaced startup environment with agile and iterative development practices.

Communication:

• Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders effectively.

Education:

• Advanced degree in Computer Science from a reputed institution (e.g. IIT NIT BITS or equivalent).
