Optical Technician

Responsibilities:

• Lens Cutting: Utilize lens cutting and edging equipment to shape and size prescription lenses accurately.
• Frame Assembly: Assemble eyeglass frames ensuring proper alignment and fit according to customer prescriptions and preferences.
• Adjustments: Perform adjustments and repairs on eyeglasses to ensure comfort and proper vision for customers.
• Lens Insertion: Carefully insert lenses into frames taking into account the specific requirements of each prescription.
• Quality Control: Inspect finished eyewear products to ensure they meet quality standards and prescription accuracy.
• Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory of eyeglass frames lenses and related optical supplies.
• Customer Interaction: Interact with customers to understand their eyewear needs and provide guidance on frame selection and adjustments.
• Maintenance: Maintain and calibrate optical equipment regularly to ensure accuracy and performance.
• RecordKeeping: Maintain accurate records of customer orders prescriptions and inventory.

Requirements/Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 35 years proven experience as an Optical Technician or in a similar role.
• Familiarity with optical equipment and tools including lens cutting and frame adjustment instruments.
• Strong attention to detail and precision in handling delicate eyewear components.
• Excellent handeye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for customer interactions.
• Knowledge of optical principles and lens types is advantageous.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
• Ability to work in a fastpaced retail setting.
