We are seeking a skilled Climate/Carbon Analyst to join our team and contribute to our efforts in understanding and mitigating the impacts of climate change. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in environmental science, data analysis, and policy research, with a focus on carbon emissions and climate modeling. This role involves analyzing complex data sets, assessing carbon footprints, identifying areas for emission reductions, and providing strategic recommendations to support our sustainability objectives.
Responsibilities:
1. Data Analysis: Collect, process, and analyze large datasets related to carbon emissions, climate trends, energy consumption, and environmental impacts.
2. Carbon Footprint Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of carbon footprints for various activities, processes, and products within the organization or client operations.
3. Climate Modeling: Utilize climate modeling tools and techniques to forecast future climate scenarios, assess risks, and identify opportunities for adaptation and mitigation.
4. Policy Research: Stay abreast of global, regional, and local climate policies, regulations, and initiatives. Analyze their potential impact on operations and recommend strategies to ensure compliance and promote sustainability.
5. Emission Reduction Strategies: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies for reducing carbon emissions, improving energy efficiency, and promoting sustainable practices.
6. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and documentation summarizing key findings, recommendations, and progress towards sustainability goals. Ensure accuracy and clarity in communication to stakeholders.
7. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, NGOs, and community groups, to exchange knowledge, gather insights, and build partnerships to advance climate goals.
8. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, technology adoption, and innovation to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of carbon management initiatives.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Climate Science, Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Proven experience in climate analysis, carbon accounting, greenhouse gas inventorying, or related areas.
3. Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Python, R, GIS).
4. Familiarity with climate models, emission estimation methodologies, and sustainability frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol, IPCC guidelines).
5. Strong understanding of climate policy, regulations, and international agreements (e.g., Paris Agreement, Clean Air Act).
6. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences effectively.
7. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
8. Passion for environmental sustainability and a commitment to driving positive change.
