Grower Accountant

Job Summary:
The Grower Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the financial transactions and reporting associated with grower operations. This includes managing grower payments tracking crop costs and ensuring compliance with financial and agricultural regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of the agriculture industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Grower Payments: Calculate and process payments to growers based on crop deliveries contracts and other agreements.
• Cost Tracking: Monitor and analyze crop costs including inputs labor and other production expenses to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed financial records for grower operations including monthend and yearend reports.
• Contract Management: Review and manage grower contracts ensuring all financial terms are adhered to and accurately reflected in accounting records.
• Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of grower accounts resolving discrepancies and ensuring accurate payments.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in developing budgets and forecasts related to grower operations providing insights into cost trends and profitability.
• Audit Support: Provide necessary documentation and support for internal and external audits related to grower finances.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant agricultural and financial regulations including tax reporting and subsidy programs.
• Grower Relations: Maintain strong relationships with growers addressing any financial inquiries or issues promptly and professionally.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in grower accounting.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 3 years of accounting experience preferably in the agriculture industry or related fields.
• Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
• Industry Knowledge: Understanding of agricultural accounting including crop costing grower payments and related financial processes.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with attention to detail.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with growers and internal teams.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel.
• Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with agricultural regulations and compliance requirements is a plus.
