Job Summary
As a program officer in a nonprofit organization implementing womens socioeconomic empowerment and development the Program officer manages the development and implementation of programs/projects. He / She will work on specific programs longterm or manage projects contributing to the organizations overall goals. He/She will also provide technical assistance to the Program Manager support other team members program participants consultants and vendors and ensures timely implementation of portfolio activities.
Job Description
The Program Officer will provide support and guidance for the implementation of project activities carried out by the organization.
Ensure efficient timely implementation of program activities within the allocated budget and organizational values.
Work as part of the organization s program team and assist in developing program strategy drafting program activity proposals and reports supporting the monitoring and evaluation efforts negotiating and tracking activity financial expenditure.
Will include performing tasks and functions according to the direction provided by the Program Manager/Country Manager.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Coordination and implementation of the organization s program activities (training meetings workshops conferences seminars and as may be assigned) and other events according to organizations requirements and program workplans.
Conceptualize research and design program interventions consistent with the organizations program objectives and available budgets.
Research write and edit timesensitive program documents and budgets emerging socioeconomic updates and blog articles.
Organization s specific publications activity reports funding proposals and training materials
Provide efficient and timely action on administrative and financial matters written assignments and submission of reports
Cultivate relationships and communicate with sector actors civil society organizations on behalf of his/her supervisor and represent the organization at public functions as requested.
Work with other program personnel to monitor and evaluate the performance of the organization vendors engaged consultants and partners (where applicable) on program activities identifying successes and failures and recommending program adjustments accordingly.
Assist with all aspects of team projects and objectives and lead the development of work products in collaboration with Team members.
Mobilize program participants the media and stakeholders for events and program
Update and maintain program files and program participants contacts for monitoring and evaluation activities and internal reporting.
Monitor current events and developments in Africa to provide socioeconomic development and programmatic analysis and recommendations.
Travel independently and/or as part of a team to various locations to support the organization s programmatic objectives.
Perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor on behalf of the organization.
Qualifications
Bachelor s Degree or better in Economics Arts Social Development International Relations or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in nonprofit (NGO) work international development experience in socioeconomic empowerment programs preferably working directly with entrepreneurs women and/or youth and other sector stakeholders.
Experience working on donorfunded economic empowerment programs education an capacitybuilding programs;
Experience in project cycle management coordinating project activities with participants project accounting and monitoring and evaluation; vendor engagement data collation analysis and interpretation for informed programming and decisionmaking.
Working knowledge of the nonprofit strategy and logical framework Womens Economic Empowerment (WEE) and socioeconomics.
Experience writing reports and project proposals.
Ability to prioritize plan and organize work to tight timeframes handle multiple tasks and be flexible with changing priorities.
Experience promoting sustainable participation of women and youths in economic development.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
An organized approach and ability to plan workload
Working experience using Teachable platform and technology tools (Zoom Microsoft Office Google Suite)
Excellent writing skills including an ability to communicate complex ideas strategies and policies.
Experience of event organization; detailedoriented and coordination
Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines: Strong communicator and presenter in English both verbally and in writing and
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team to coordinate and lead the efforts of other professionals to effectively meet organizational and program
