We are seeking a dynamic and resultsoriented Engineering Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be selfdirected datadriven and capable of adapting to the evolving needs of our business and customers. This role is a handson position involving both Project Engineering and Engineering Management. You will collaborate with engineers technicians and the product development team participate in building prototypes and testing and travel to customer sites to support commissioning activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; or equivalent education.
- 37 years of experience managing leading and coaching a technical team.
- Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer (PE) in Nebraska with the ability to obtain reciprocity in other states.
- Experience in conducting technical reviews of specifications for quotations and large contract risk assessments.
- Ability to review design risk assessments verification and validation activities to ensure products and solutions meet customer technical and contractual requirements.
- Proven ability to manage long project timelines and maintain high productivity to achieve project milestones.
- Experience in writing design standards.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software.
- Understanding and experience with regulatory codes such as UL CSA NEC and NFPA.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Critical thinking and processoriented mindset for resolving open issues and driving continuous improvement across the team.
- Willingness and ability to travel nationwide and internationally with expected travel up to 10%.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of engineers and designers to complete projectspecific engineering activities.
- Accountable for resource allocation within the Project Engineering team risk assessment and mitigation and meeting project deadlines for technical deliverables.
- Review and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) drawing packages bills of materials math data and other technical documentation.
- Ensure timely completion of ECOs and large projects including customengineered solutions.
- Coordinate with sales and project management teams to allocate resources and manage workloads effectively.
- Lead technical reviews of specifications for quotations and assess risks associated with large contracts.
- Oversee all activities related to the development of customengineered solutions for large projects including design modeling prototyping evaluation and testing.
- Review design risk assessments verification and validation activities to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
- Develop design standards for transit systems and components building application and product knowledge.
- Support research and development activities including designing experiments and analyzing test results.
- Monitor and manage department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Review Corrective Action Reports (CARs) and provide support to address root causes and close issues.
- Travel to perform onsite inspections for large projects and support commissioning activities both nationally and internationally.
- Coordinate engineering activities across all engineering teams in collaboration with the Director of Engineering and other Engineering Managers.
- Provide leadership guidance and performance reviews for a team of Engineers and Designers.
