Job Description

Do you have a passion for solving problems and a strong work ethic Are you a veteran with a background in mechanical maintenance or similar roles If so we want to hear from you!

Rare MondayFriday mechanic role in Chesapeake VA! Hourly rate is dependent on your motor experience. The pay starts at $24 an hour but can go up to $30 or so for the right person.

In this critical role youll be responsible for:

  • Precision Mechanics: Disassemble and reassemble large vertical motors (up to 12000 HP) with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Safety First: Work safely with and around radioactive materials adhering strictly to personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols. All motors are decontaminated before leaving a clients site.
  • Troubleshooting Expertise: Diagnose and resolve operational issues like oil leaks and vibrations ensuring optimal motor performance.
  • Testing & Quality Control: Conduct comprehensive pre and postrepair testing procedures on all motors guaranteeing exceptional quality.
  • Adaptability & Problem Solving: Tackle various mechanical tasks as needed demonstrating a willingness to learn and adapt.

Were looking for a candidate who:

  • Thrives in a VeteranFriendly Environment: We value the discipline attention to detail and problemsolving skills honed through military service.
  • Proven Handson Experience: A minimum of 5 years demonstrably disassembling troubleshooting and reassembling motors and/or pumps is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to interpret blueprints and technical specifications to ensure accurate repairs and procedures.
  • Safety Commitment: Must complete and maintain annual Radiological Worker Training as required by regulations (cost covered by employer).
  • Teamwork & Communication: Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Lifelong Learner: Willingness to expand knowledge and learn new skills including basic electrical principles (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Tools & Equipment Mastery: Proficient in using basic hand tools and measurement equipment (dial indicators micrometers etc.).
  • SafetyConscious: Understands the importance of adhering to written work instructions and prioritizing safety in all aspects of the job.
