Job Description


Partner Staffing is currently working with our client seeking a highly motivated and experienced Aquatics Biologist. You will be responsible for collaborating with the leadership team to codevelop processes standards and tools which complement our vision for a water management group. You will put your technical expertise leadership and project management skills to test as you design and lead field programs compile manage and interpret environmental data compose technical reports provide technical guidance and oversight in field operations and actively grow the aquatic team.




Requirements


Responsibilities:

  • Technical leadership for the delivery of highquality aquatic science and data collection services.
  • Support projects from proposal stage to closeout reporting
  • Plan and lead field assessments to industry standards and prepare reports for projects within a variety of sectors.
  • Lead field programs across northeastern British Columbia ensuring technical excellence safety and quality of deliveries.
  • Work collaboratively with junior intermediate and senior staff subconsultants and government agencies.
  • Perform as the technical lead for all aquatic projects including preparation design and implementation of work execution plans.
  • Establish water quality monitoring and sampling methodologies lead water quality monitoring and sampling programs analyze data and write summary reports.
  • Organize and implement aquatic baseline assessments operational and compliance monitoring programs and aquatic impact assessments including study design data analysis and reporting.
  • Deliver high quality wellwritten technical reports on time and within budget.
  • Compile manage and interpret environmental data.
  • Prepare or assist with permit applications environmental assessments and environmental management plans

Qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Designation Required P.Bio R.P. Bio.
  • Mandatory 5 years minimum of managing small and large scale fisheries studies and developing management reports.
  • Experience with environmental assessment.
  • Experience with data collection data analysis and reporting

About the Opportunity Our Client is currently seeking a Senior Biologist to join the team. Preference is for candidates to be based out of Fort St James, Fort St John, and Prince George, BC. However, we will consider candidates that reside outside of these areas. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Leading and joining field teams in various disciplines (wildlife, birds, fish, aquatic habitat, water quality, vegetation, soils, wetlands, environmental monitoring, sediment, and erosion control) Contributing to environmental impact assessments, mitigation plans, and proposals. Assisting in preparing and obtaining regulatory approvals for a wide variety of projects such as transportation, renewable energy, mining, oil, and gas, etc. Senior level responsibilities could include Field Coordination and Project Management Technical leadership and mentorship within a team environment Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within corporate culture More About You To qualify, you will need a minimum of a B.Sc. in Biology or related discipline with five years experience, and RPBio, PBiol, and/or P.Ag. designation or eligibility. Courses or certifications in the following areas would be considered assets: Electrofishing Certification (approved by WorkSafe BC) Fish identification Bird survey methodology and bird identification Amphibian salvage methodology and amphibian identification Erosion and Sediment Control Plant identification Candidates with the following skills and experience will be considered: Sound knowledge of field techniques and regulatory standards necessary for conducting a variety of field activities (i.e., wildlife assessments, bird surveys, water quality, fisheries inventories/ salvage, environmental monitoring/inspection) Knowledge of the provincial and federal environmental assessment regulatory environment Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management skills and physically fit Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent writing and communication skills, desire to grow business, and work closely (both in a field lead and support role) with other environmental professionals, environmental discipline leads, and First Nations Proficiency in the operation of field equipment is an asset Due to the nature of the role, you must have a valid Driver's License. Lastly, you will be joining with the passion to contribute and believe in the work that they do.
