Job Description

Partner Staffing is currently working with our client seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Biologist Project Manager to join their leadership team. The successful candidate will oversee and manage environmental projects ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams conducting fieldwork preparing reports and providing expert guidance on environmental issues.



Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage multiple environmental projects from inception to completion.
  • Develop project plans timelines and budgets.
  • Coordinate with clients stakeholders and team members to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure successful completion.
  • Conduct fieldwork including ecological assessments wildlife surveys and habitat evaluations.
  • Collect analyze and interpret environmental data.
  • Prepare detailed reports including Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs).
  • Ensure all projects comply with local provincial and federal environmental regulations and standards.
  • Supervise and mentor junior biologists and environmental technicians.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Environmental Biology Ecology Environmental Science or a related field (Master s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental project management.
  • Professional designation (e.g. P.Biol. RPBio) is an asset.
  • Proven experience in conducting environmental assessments and fieldwork.
  • Excellent project management skills including budgeting and scheduling.

About the Opportunity Our Client is currently seeking a Senior Biologist to join the team. Preference is for candidates to be based out of Fort St James, Fort St John, and Prince George, BC. However, we will consider candidates that reside outside of these areas. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Leading and joining field teams in various disciplines (wildlife, birds, fish, aquatic habitat, water quality, vegetation, soils, wetlands, environmental monitoring, sediment, and erosion control) Contributing to environmental impact assessments, mitigation plans, and proposals. Assisting in preparing and obtaining regulatory approvals for a wide variety of projects such as transportation, renewable energy, mining, oil, and gas, etc. Senior level responsibilities could include Field Coordination and Project Management Technical leadership and mentorship within a team environment Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within corporate culture More About You To qualify, you will need a minimum of a B.Sc. in Biology or related discipline with five years experience, and RPBio, PBiol, and/or P.Ag. designation or eligibility. Courses or certifications in the following areas would be considered assets: Electrofishing Certification (approved by WorkSafe BC) Fish identification Bird survey methodology and bird identification Amphibian salvage methodology and amphibian identification Erosion and Sediment Control Plant identification Candidates with the following skills and experience will be considered: Sound knowledge of field techniques and regulatory standards necessary for conducting a variety of field activities (i.e., wildlife assessments, bird surveys, water quality, fisheries inventories/ salvage, environmental monitoring/inspection) Knowledge of the provincial and federal environmental assessment regulatory environment Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management skills and physically fit Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent writing and communication skills, desire to grow business, and work closely (both in a field lead and support role) with other environmental professionals, environmental discipline leads, and First Nations Proficiency in the operation of field equipment is an asset Due to the nature of the role, you must have a valid Driver's License. Lastly, you will be joining with the passion to contribute and believe in the work that they do.
