Job Description
Job Description (Summary)
As the Field Installation and Support Engineer (FISE) you will be responsible for installing and
maintaining both underground and overhead fiber infrastructure conducting surveys locating and
resolving faults and providing firstline support on fiber infrastructure issues. You will ensure that all
installations and equipment conform to the organization s specifications and provide highlevel support
to customers and vendors.
Installation & Maintenance:
Install underground and overhead fiber infrastructure and passive and active fiber boxes in conformity
with the Organization s standards and procedures.
Install FTTH broadband devices external cabling and internal customer equipment (Optical Network
Termination Residential Gateway / Router Wireless Mesh Internal cabling etc.).
Locate faults in the Passive Optical Network and visit customer premises to identify and resolve faults.
Replace repair and fix all damaged fiber infrastructure.
Project Management & Documentation:
Conduct surveys document fiber infrastructure and work with planning to design and implement
provider network and customer service solutions.
Ensure all failures resolutions inspections supervision and updated AsBuilt Drawings are well
documented.
Conduct acceptance tests on new duct fiber and active infrastructure and equipment as assigned.
Participate in the execution of special projects as required.
Support & Compliance:
Maintain a sound working relationship between the network operations section and all associated
internal and external customers/partners.
Provide firstline support on fiber infrastructure and servicerelated issues as assigned.
Ensure all new fiber infrastructures and equipment conform to the Organization s specifications.
Provide support to vendors/partners to carry out installation and corrections on fiber infrastructure
using Network Management System (NMS) and other available tools.
Guarantee the availability and quality of service of fiber infrastructure and equipment react and rectify
all emergency faults within the Service Level Agreement.
Customer Service & Safety:
Manage contractors/vendors Service Level Agreements to ensure compliance with guidelines and
procedures related to fiber infrastructure.
Conduct spot checks works supervision facilities control and assessment of all assigned infrastructure.
Deliver professional and quality customer service and ensure all activities are carried out in line with
Health and Safety standards including daily checks to ensure safe use and maintaining a clean and tidy
environment at all times.
Requirements
Required Competencies:
Technical Behavioral Strategic
Advanced knowledge in fibre
optic testing and networking.
Installation and maintenance of
fibre infrastructure.
Project management skills.
Reporting documentation and
communication.
Knowledgeable in HSE
regulations.
Proficiency in using Network
Management Systems (NMS).
Excel/PowerPoint skills for data
analysis & reporting.
Process improvement &
management..
Good communication skills

Required Qualifications & Experience
3 years or more of experience in fibre infrastructure projects working as a Fibre/Cable Installations
Engineer and experience with working teams.
Advanced fibre optic testing and networking experience is desirable.
Degree or Certifications or other relevant qualifications.
