- The role of Air Cargo Operations Manager can involve anything concerning air transportation.
- Such a person must understand aircrafts IATA ICAO and GRA Customs Division rules and regulations.
- He / She must be abreast with Customs regulations and ICUMS software.
- He / She will need to coordinate the administration and operational procedures of the department.
- He / She will need to work in harmony with heads of other departments of the company.
- He / She will manage a team of operations professionals of data entry and field officers.
- They will be responsible for coordinating logistics services and communicating with different logistics service providers.
- The Head has to ensure that all jobs are done in accordance with company policies and procedures. He / She needs to ensure that clearing and forwarding of cargo are completed to clients satisfaction including meeting cost schedule and contractual requirements.
- The Head needs to ensure their financial and administrative files comply with the company s standards.
- They will regularly need to source pricing for rate and quote requests.
- He / She will complete weekly action plans and submit same to management.
- He / She will meet KPI and make sure that that of his/her department is met.
- He / She will report to the General Manager.
- Any other jobs that may be assigned.
Requirements
- First degree in logistics / Supply Chain Management from a good tertiary institution with a minimum of 3 yrs of working experience.
- Minimum 3 years of practical experience in customs clearing process at the airport.
- A GRA Customs Division license is a plus.
- Being able to demonstrate strong administrative skills.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal as this role requires daily liaison with clients and suppliers.
- Being organized is vital.
- Able to demonstrate good numeric and analysis skills.
- Able to use Microsoft Word Excel etc.
- Able to work long hours.
- Able to Travel.
