The primary purpose of this role is to ensure ultimate product quality and to deliver on our brand promise through implementing best operating practice on quality at the packhouse thereby ensuring good quality blueberries are packed.
Key Performance Outputs
- Monitor all quality controllers and assign them duties accordingly in receiving.
- Ensure that the received product is according to specification.
- Check harvest dates and do stock allocation.
- Monitor hygiene of the staff and growers offloading.
- Monitor the maintenance needs of the receiving area and ensure foreign body control is in place.
- Complete records as required by procedures for each area according to the BRC/GG standard.
- Ensure all traceability procedures are strictly adhered to.
- Ensure that no jewellery makeup and nail polish is worn in the production area.
- Ensure that the proper protective wear is worn properly always and monitor all visitors coming to the pack house.
- Monitor food defense allergen management and nonconforming product disposal.
- Immediately report all out of specification products to the Packhouse Quality and Compliance Manager.
- Monitor for any pest activity or foreign body contamination.
- Perform other duties (if and when necessary) as requested by Management.
- Assist the Quality manager in specific duties required.
- Supervision of all the receiving processes.
- Generate QC intake reports.
- Issuing QC alerts concerning poor products.
- Dispatch control of all out going products.
- Issuing and sending out QC reports to growers/suppliers.
Requirements
Qualification/Experience
- Senior certificate / grade 12 / matric.
- Suitable tertiary qualification.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience
Functional / Technical
- Computer literacy: MS Office (Excel Word PowerPoint)
- Excellent Email ettiquete
- Product Knowledge
- Excellent communication skills; verbal and written
- Food safety and quality management training (HACCP/BRC)
- Experience in inspection of food products (Fruits) is preferred
