Job Description

  • Responsible for the operations maintenance and upkeep of the Veritas Netbackup application across multiple environments (Testing Unclassified and Classified).

  • Maintain the appropriate DOD Cyber compliance level as directed by the program Cyber security office via patching and configuration using DISA STIGs.

  • Provide technical input and accomplish development deployment and configuration tasks to maintain the current operational environment.

  • Monitor backup jobs across multiple platforms.

  • Perform periodic disaster recovery scenarios.

  • Maintain backup policies and standards.

  • Troubleshoot performance problems and propose solutions.

  • Maintain all equipment for the backup environment including servers and disk storage devices.

  • Manage and execute complex database backups particularly in SQL and Oracle environments to ensure data protection.

  • Create and maintain documentation.

  • Follow and maintain inhouse documentation for repeatable processes.

  • Follow ITIL and industry best practices for Change Management.




Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree and 812 years of handson system administration experience (additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).

  • DoD 8570 IAT II certified.

  • Active DoD TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain CI/POLY.

  • 5 years of experience with Veritas NetBackup 8.x or greater.

  • 5 years of experience with MSWindows Solaris and RHEL/OEL Linux environments.

  • 2 years of experience with VMware 7.x or greater.

  • 2 years of experience with network communication (IPbased).

  • Installation and configuration experience with Windows Server 2019 and RedHat Enterprise Linux 7 and higher.

  • Experience with Windows PowerShell and Bash shell scripting.

  • Experience with NetBackup data protection and VMware Backup.

  • Strong CLI skills.

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP communications.

  • Strong documentation skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to be a team player.

Active TS/SCI security clearance. DoD 8750 certification (IAT level II, e.g., Security+ce). Potential requirement to obtain CI Poly. Experience in configuration, troubleshooting, and maintaining VMware environments. Proficiency in Remote Desktop Services and PowerShell scripting (other languages like Python are advantageous). Knowledge of applying security settings and best practices, including DISA STIGS. Familiarity with Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP). Experience with Group Policy Management (GPO) and applying Local Security Policies. Proficient in using Windows Task Scheduler, Managing Active Directory, and system (hardware/software) installation and configuration.
