Our multinational client who deals in FastMoving Consumable Goods (FMCG) is looking to hire an experienced Transport Manager to join their team. Reporting to the General Manager you will primarily be responsible for overseeing the operations of transportation activities in the company which includes directing coordinating and planning tasks.
Responsibilities.
Ensure vehicles are properly maintained in accordance with the statutory compliance.
Ensure compliance with company policies and transport legislation.
Periodic inspection of company fleets and advice where necessary.
Arrange repairs and routine maintenance and report on maintenance and repair needs for transportation vehicles and equipment.
Ensure that all drivers and operators have the correct up to date qualifications.
Develop and implement strategies to help reduce the risk of vehicle overloading.
Maintaining and completing accurate records
Assist Audit and Account departments on periodic reconciliations on fuel coupons purchased.
Ensure planning and supervising of loads from warehouse to their various destinations are managed timely.
Schedule daily and weekly routes together with the sales Department.
Daily tracking of vehicle routes and locations at any given time using functional systems
Coordinate with Warehouse Workers to ensure proper storage and distribution of products.
Monitor and report on transportation costs while ensuring proper transport documents are properly filed.
Research and suggest costeffective methods for the transportation department.
Organize training and workshop sessions for drivers/ operators on road safety by liaising with the HR Dept. respectively.
Keep records of vehicles schedules and completed orders.
Stay uptodate with safety regulations.
Prepare and submit weekly and monthly Transport report for Management advice.
Must have a Bachelor s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering (Automobile Option) or any related field.
Must have at least five (5) years of experience in the same or similar role.
Knowledge of the use of GPS Vehicle Tracking System will be an added advantage.
Excellent critical thinking problemsolving and decisionmaking skills.
Excellent organizational communication (written and verbal) interpersonal team playing and time management skills.
Possess excellent negotiation skills and be able to multitask.
Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Software suite (i.e. MS Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook).
