Fulltime Permanent Position
Position: Controller
Salary:$120000$160000
Location: Windsor ON

Company Background:


Client is a growing metalbased manufacturer that supplies stampings and assemblies to automotive heavy truck and industrial customers throughout the world. It is an OEM and Tier One supplier. Headquarters are located in Windsor Ontario. Client is a wholly owned subsidiary Client USA. The Company is looking at opportunities to grow in Canada and Internationally.

Position Summary:

Due to recent and anticipated growth Client is looking to upgrade its controller position. This individual will report to the Chief Operating Officer with dotted line reporting to the Chief Financial Officer of Client. headquartered client is seeking a seasoned financial and accounting professional to manage all accounting finance and treasury functions at this rapidly growing company. The Controller will have full responsibility for maintaining and enhancing the accounting and financial records procedures and controls of the company. The successful candidate will have a minimum of ten years of increasingly responsible experience in a manufacturing environment (with at least five years of supervisory experience) and the demonstrated ability to build and manage a high performing team. Extensive knowledge of and exposure to manufacturing operations is required. International experience is desirable. A BS/BA in Accounting is required as is a sound knowledge of Cost Accounting.


Job Description (walk me through a day in the life):
  • Maintain an information control system which provides the timely accurate and relevant financial information necessary to properly manage the business
  • Provide informed strategic financial leadership to support the corporation's continued growth and the high quality of its undertakings
  • Manage the daytoday operations of the accounting function in the areas of general
  • accounting cost accounting accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Review cost and other accounting functions and procedures and recommend and implement appropriate enhancements
  • Review operating and management controls and procedures and recommend and implement appropriate enhancements
  • Ensure that management information systems within the finance and accounting functions are appropriate to the current and projected requirements of the company and recommend enhancements as necessary
  • Perform monthly analysis of financial operations and prepare reports on same
  • Prepare budgets monitor actual performance against budget and make appropriate recommendations to improve performance
  • Performance forecasts and projections to position the company for strategic growth and enhanced market share
  • Coordinate and supervise the monthly and yearend closes in a timely and efficient manner
  • Prepare schedules and analyses for the annual audit and manage relations with outside accountants and other service providers as appropriate
  • Lead and organize the accounting department including:
Establishing an organizational structure responsive to corporate needs Interviewing hiring and training employees
Planning assigning and directing their work
Appraising performance rewarding disciplining and terminating employees
  • Ensure that the accounting department is appropriately staffed and that employees are given the opportunity and encouragement to improve their skills and progress professionally within the organization
  • Ensure that all procedures practices and records are in full compliance with all applicable regulations laws and established practices
Must Have 1: 810 Years Manufacturing Experience Must Have 2: Experience in budgeting financial reporting benefits and tax Must Have 3: 5 Years’ experience in Managerial position Must Have 4: Cost accounting experience Nice to Have: Multiplant experience (international)

Describe the Work Environment
Smaller type of office/team. Controlled temperature. Office Setting working directly with COO CFO and General Manager. Candidate will be reporting directly to them and American partners.
