Job Description

Role: IT Director

Location: Decatur GA

GENERAL POSITON DESCRIPTION: Directs the agencywide business objectives to establish the direction and management efforts of activities in IT fields such as electronic data processing information systems technology and electronic security converting those objectives into actions and programs. Oversees the development and implementation of IT projects and initiatives. This manager has a board scope or a high level of responsibility within the agency or organization. Directs subordinate managers and staff. This position works to promote and protect the health and safety of the residents of DeKalb County.

TYPICAL TASKS:

Continually evaluates customers security needs for IT applications and evaluates the current options available to meet those needs

Defines and prioritizes IT project requirements

Develops time and cost estimates project plans and budget

Establishes IT policy and participates in the coordination of systems administration and network administration

Interviews hires directs trains evaluates the performance of and when necessary disciplines and discharges IT employees

Manages human resources and directs administrative activities for IT employees

Monitors the staffs installations maintenance and support of IT product/services

Oversees the development and implementation of IT projects and initiatives

Oversees the evaluation of the units internal processes procedures and technologies to improve efficiency and ensure quality

Provides expert assistance to customers in planning their IT needs

Schedules downtime and preventive maintenance activities required to keep all equipment in good operating condition

Serves as a link between vendors and IT staff by providing information and guidance in acquiring relevant products and services

Works with other IT managers staff and vendors as needed in order to provide timely and efficient IT coordination in providing services to meet customers requests

During an Emergency Preparedness situation as determined by the Health Director staff must be available 24/7 throughout the event. Staff will be assigned duties and responsibilities as appropriate which may or may not include typical job descriptions

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree in information technology or a related field from an accredited college or university AND eight (8) years of job specific experience that includes extensive experience in information and data management logistics and business/process improvement.

  • Palo Alto Firewalls.

    • Candidate will need to possess a good understanding of ingress and egress flows for the firewall. Candidate will also need to have a good understanding of NAT translations.

  • Vmware

    • Candidate will need a firm grasp of how a vmware environment is configured for best practices and how to support any balancing/troubleshooting issues.

  • Nimble Storage

    • Candidate will need to understand how to provision new storage for various instances where additional space may be required. Candidate must also be able to comprehend replication processes between multiple sites.

  • NetApp Storage

    • Candidate will need to understand how to provision new storage for various instances where additional space may be required. Candidate must also be able to comprehend replication processes between multiple sites. Candidate should also understand the different protocols and how to deploy (NFSCIFSISCSIetc)

  • Microsoft Operating Systems

    • Candidate must possess a basic understanding of troubleshooting methodologies for various Microsoft Operating Systems and Applications

  • Windows Active Directory

    • Candidate will need a very good understanding of Microsoft Active Directory architecture and how to secure and maintain a healthy Active Directory Environment.

  • Veeam

    • Candidate should understand best practice backup methodologies as related to Veeam.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

Bachelors degree in a related field and at least 10 years of significant and relevant IT experience with at least five years managing all aspects of a small to midsize IT operation.

Previous experience with Public Health and/or the Healthcare industry.

Previous experience with Tyler Technologies Products (ERP) Netsmart Insight/myInsight electronic medical record or other comparable electronic medical record experience BOSSdesk ticket system solution

Proficient in latest technology for IT systems and innovative applications
