Technical Writer

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented API Technical Writer to join our client s dynamic team. As an API Technical Writer, you will play a critical role in creating clear, concise, and accurate documentation for all our API products. Your primary responsibility will be to develop comprehensive and user-friendly API documentation that enables developers and external stakeholders to effectively utilize our APIs.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop API Documentation:
   

• Create clear, comprehensive and consistent API documentation, including guides, reference materials, tutorials, Postman Collections and sample code.
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as software engineers, product managers, and technical support, to gather the necessary information for documentation.
  
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of technical content by conducting thorough research and validation.
  

1. Create Developer Guides:
   

• Produce well-structured and easily understandable developer guides to assist users in understanding the capabilities and functionalities of our APIs.
  
• Present complex technical concepts in a simple and accessible manner, catering to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  
• Regularly update and maintain the developer guides to reflect the latest changes and enhancements in the API offerings.
  

1. Produce API Reference Documentation:
   

• Develop detailed API reference documentation that provides comprehensive information on endpoints, parameters, data formats, authentication methods, and error handling.
  
• Work closely with the development team to ensure accurate and up-to-date information on API behaviours, limitations, and best practices.
  
• Organize and format reference documentation in a user-friendly manner, enabling developers to quickly find the information they need.
  

1. Collaborate with Internal Teams:
   

• Partner with software engineers, product managers, and UX designers to understand API features, improvements, and updates, ensuring accurate representation in the documentation.
  
• Actively participate in meetings, discussions, and reviews to gather information and provide valuable insights on API documentation requirements.
  

1. Conduct Documentation Reviews:
   

• Review and edit existing documentation to improve clarity, consistency, and overall quality.
  
• Collaborate with stakeholders to incorporate feedback, address suggestions, and implement necessary revisions.
  
• Maintain a high standard of documentation by following style guidelines and industry best practices.
  

Requirements:

1. Proven Experience:
   

• Minimum of 1 year experience as a technical writer, specifically working on API documentation.
  
• Demonstrable portfolio showcasing API documentation samples, developer guides, and reference materials.
  

1. Technical Proficiency:
   

• Strong understanding of APIs, RESTful architectures, JSON, XML, and other data interchange formats.
  
• Proficiency in relevant tools and technologies such as Swagger, Postman, Git, and Markdown.
  
• Some familiarity with programming languages, preferably JavaScript, Python, or Java.
  

1. Excellent Communication Skills:
   

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in a concise and approachable manner.
  
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to organize information logically and coherently.
