Job Description

Design, implement and validate experimental and production controls algorithms for electro-mechanical systems. Manage the control algorithm tuning in conjunction with the calibration engineers. Collaborate with and support Software & Controls team members, Chief Engineers, platform team engineers, and other stakeholders across the Industrial Sector. Interact directly with management and chiefs. Leverage the cross functional teams from various background such as Hardware, Software, Systems, and Mechanical and Controls. Interact with cross functional team members more often to develop their design. Organize and lead internal and external engineering resources for integration and development deliverables. Plan activities for the engineering resources to complete the development of the software components and track the progress while providing technical feedback. Mentor engineering team members. Verify solutions through simulation, sub-system, hardware-in-the-loop and vehicle level testing. Develop validation and verification test plans at a unit, sub-system and vehicle level to fully validate requirements; develop and review the relevant test cases for the correctness. Lead failure and root cause analysis testing and coordinate all work within the scope, and ensure project goals are met. Evaluate vehicle data from test and customer vehicles to investigate, identify, and resolve issues and performance complaints. Lead the root cause analysis and assemble a technical team. Champion the architecture and the design of new software solutions from beginning to end at all life cycle stages. Learn, evaluate, and collaboratively integrate the latest software tools/technologies and standards to add value to the software development cycle. Work independently to evaluate 3rd party software components. Propose new software components and perform bench marking. Ensure that software requirements of all key internal and external stake holders, such as manufacturing, validation teams, end customer, and tools teams, have adequate test coverage. Review and approve the formal validation test cases. Requires 10% domestic travel to attend meetings at other Eaton locations, visit suppliers and visit clients.
40 hours / week, 9:00am-5:00pm.
Job requirements: Requires a Bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a directly related field plus four (4) years of experience working with embedded control system applications.

Must have three (3) years of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently):
Inventing, refining, and optimizing software control strategies, including closed loop control strategy, input/output management, signal conditioning, motor controls, transmission controls, inverter controls, or other electronic controls
Experience with MATLAB Simulink development environment and automatic code generation

Must have two (2) years of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently):
Experience with software change tracking systems, including Jira, IBM ClearQuest or IBM Jazz Change Control Management, in a global engineering organization
Using commercially available software source control tools, including IBM RTC, Clear Case, GitHub, TeamForge, PTC Integrity, or similar
Translating embedded controls requirements into Matlab/Simulink architecture
Evaluating the performance and functionality of embedded powertrain controls system in a simulated xIL environment
Calibration of embedded controls systems in a laboratory or vehicle environment
Utilizing analysis tools, including Matlab, Simulink, Canoe, Canape, Canalyzer, or Etas INCA, to analyze complex embedded system data
Experience with Controller Networks, including CAN or J1939 vehicle communication bus protocol
