Who we are
Atreca is an integrated biotechnology company located in a brand-new campus in San Carlos, CA. We apply our proprietary drug discovery platform to profile clinically relevant, active B cell responses in patients receiving successful treatment and, in turn, develop a portfolio of antibody therapeutics against novel tumor targets with the potential to treat large patient populations. Atreca seeks talented, driven individuals who are dedicated to making a positive impact on human health and are motivated to become key members of a growing company.
Position Summary
We are seeking an outstanding and highly motivated scientist to join our Target Biochemistry group and become a key member of the research team. Target Biochemistry identities targets as well as elucidates the molecular-level interactions involving Atrecas patient-derived antibodies and their disease-associated antigens. This role focuses on tumor associated carbohydrate antigens (TACAs) and is a fantastic and high-visibility opportunity to develop an emerging class of cancer therapeutics at Atreca. If you are an enthusiastic multidisciplinary scientist, consider applying to this exciting position!
Duties and Responsibilities
Expand an experimental pipeline that identifies the binding properties exhibited by members of Atrecas collection of glycan-dependent, tumor-specific, antibodies. Lead operations ranging from screening antibody collections to structure-level investigations of high-interest candidates
Demonstrate subject matter expertise in the field of tumor-associated carbohydrate antigens and provide insights into strategic approaches for successful drug development
Investigate and determine the nature of glycan-decorated cellular targets (protein classes or features, glycolipids, etc.)
Support sourcing and generation of high-purity target material reflecting the cancer glycan presentation
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams for the selection, engineering, and evaluation of therapeutics leveraging aberrant glycosylation for cancer selectivity (ADCs, bispecifics, etc.)
Manage academic research collaborations and vendor relationships
Document and communicate results in a comprehensive, clear, and accurate manner
Lead from the bench, potential for one SRA report
Follow laboratory safety guidelines and practices
Required Skills and Qualifications
PhD in Immunology, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, or a related field plus 5 years relevant experience
Masters in Immunology, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, or a related field plus 8 years relevant experience
Experience developing and applying protocols for glycan identification (ex. mass spec glycoproteomics, glycan arrays, UPLC/UPLC, etc.)
Experience in tumor-specific glycobiology preferred
Experience with characterization of antibody / glycan complexes preferred
Experience with Antibody / Antigen binding and affinity techniques (Immunoprecipitation, ELISA, Western, Biacore, Octet, etc.) preferred
Strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail
Track record of being innovative, adaptable, and scientifically rigorous
Ability to work in a team, prioritize tasks, and drive projects to completion
Exact title commensurate with experience. Atreca is an equal opportunity employer.
