Job Description


Seeking a Cost Accountant (Manufacturing) for our manufacturing client located in Southeast Houston, Texas(link removed)>




  • Base Salary up to $85k plus excellent full benefits package

  • Bachelors Degree and 2+ years of cost accounting experience required

  • Role is HYBRID 4 days per week in office / 1 day per week remote




Responsibilities:



  • Lead the month-end close process, assuring timely completion of all activities per the closing checklist

  • Reconciles balance sheet accounts and review reconciliations

  • Prepares journal entries

  • Prepares and analyzes key performance metrics explaining variances from historical trends or expected results

  • Coordinates quarterly and year-end audit activities among internal and external auditors and corporate finance

  • Perform annual standard labor and overhead rate analysis

  • Implement, evaluate and update internal control procedures

  • Manages the financial aspects of the POC Revenue recognition process

  • Ad hoc financial reporting and analyses

  • Documents and maintains financial processes and procedures

  • Participates on cross-functional or financial process-improvement teams




Qualifications:



  • Bachelors degree in Accounting required. CPA or MBA a plus

  • 2+ years of cost accounting experience required in a manufacturing and/or project environment (e.g., Percentage of Completion Accounting)

  • Knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Microsoft office software proficiency, especially Excel and Word

  • Experience with an ERP system, Oracle preferred

  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Plans, organizes, and schedules in an efficient and productive manner. Able to manage multiple priorities and projects

  • Able to handle complex and multiple tasks with limited direction

  • Detail and results oriented, excellent accuracy and commitment to meeting deadlines

  • Work independently and responsibly
