Job Description
About Us: The Arc of Central Alabama is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive support and services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). We strive to empower individuals to live their most independent and fulfilling lives. Our services include residential support day programs employment assistance and more all aimed at enhancing the quality of life for those we serve.
Essential Functions:
- Assessment/Training of person(s) receiving services:
- Work with Arc staff to assess individuals to identify persons ready for community employment.
- Assessment of persons needs through interaction with them families/representatives and other persons abilities demonstrated in workshop etc.
- Training consumers in completing applications interviewing skills etc.
- Conduct comprehensive vocational assessment (situational assessment and /or Discovery)
- Obtain all necessary assessments and releases at time of referral or intake.
- Job Development/Assessment/Placement:
- Survey community employer needs and identify job openings for matching with individuals and securing assessments in order to create job placements. Work closely with employers families and other representatives to facilitate employment placements and to assist the persons transition into the workplace. Develop keep current and utilize employee profiles.
- Develop the specific on the job skills necessary for successful employment.
- Onsite Support:
- Work sidebyside with the person(s) in the workplace providing intensive coaching/training at the initial startup period and continue adhering to a close coaching relationship until the person reaches readiness and skills for entering competitive employment when he or she no longer requires employment supports. Maintain relationships with employers incorporate employer observations about work performance into your employee training and address employer concerns. Address concerns of families and/other representatives. Assist with the persons transportation as required.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and thorough confidential documents and case files for each individual as per program requirements. Provide information to employers persons being served families and other representatives on issues related to the Supported Employment Program. Complete all monthly reports and/or summaries documenting attendance payroll and other program information as required or necessary.
- Develop training for Persons Being Served:
- Assist persons with increasing skills applicable to community employment in an integrated setting. This may include money management skills counting and writing abilities computer skills etc.
- Miscellaneous
- Attend inservices and workshops as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Ensure all inservices are kept current.
Machines Tools Equipment Software and Hardware:
Phone computer office equipment and must have Valid DL to operate vehicle.
Protective Equipment Required:
Some duties may require the use of protective gloves or any other jobrelated PPE.
Qualifications: High school diploma and at least 4 years experience in a related field or work experience proven oral and written communication skills. Reliable transportation for local travel Valid Drivers License
