Job Description

For its office in Sherbrooke CIMAs Environment & Earth Sciences Department is currently looking for a CEP or Junior Engineer to join its geotechnical team. You will work in multidisciplinary engineering teams composed mainly of geotechnical and geological engineers and environmental specialists.

Your expertise in Soil Mechanics will lead you to work on projects involving the design rehabilitation or construction of buildings engineering structures hydraulic or earthworks structures slope stability soil dynamics roads temporary and permanent retaining structures deep and conventional foundations etc.

Thanks to your expertise you will provide added value in terms of innovation client support and multidisciplinary integration of all CIMAs areas of expertise while engineering for people.

We offer a flexible hybrid work mode allowing you to work from home and from one of our offices.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct complete geotechnical studies from planning to report writing including surveys drilling laboratory tests as well as design recommendations
  • Inspect assess the safety and bring concrete and earth dams up to standard
  • Coordinate studies engineering field work subcontractors and suppliers
  • Prepare tender documents to respond to interdepartmental or public service offers
  • In collaboration with the draftspersons prepare plans and specifications for earthworks slope stabilization bank protection etc.
  • Participate in the training and supervision of interns or Candidates to the Engineering Profession (CEP)

Qualifications :

  • University degree in civil or geological engineering and specialization in geotechnics. A masters degree in hydrogeology or soil dynamics or permafrost would be an asset
  • Have applied for registration or be a member of the Ordre des Ingnieurs du Qubec (OIQ)
  • Knowledge of slope stability flow and/or finite element analysis software
  • Project management skills to ensure compliance with budgets established deadlines and administrative monitoring of files
  • Fluency in French and English both oral and written is required for this position in order to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including our clients partners and crosssector staff at the national level
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written and ability to ensure effective communication with clients on the progress of work
  • Ability to work simultaneously on various projects
