Your responsibilities
You will join the Next Ion Medical Machine Study (NIMMS) team hosted by the Accelerator and Technology Sector (ATS) to work on the electromagnetic design and demonstration of magnets for compact particle therapy accelerators compatible with FLASH therapy with specific attention to bending magnets for synchrotrons and magnets for gantries. Candidate configurations are superferric or ironless magnets combined function magnets large acceptance magnets and toroidally symmetric magnets with field range up to 3.5 T i.e. much above that of classical electromagnets. We are particularly interested in superconducting solutions with high energy efficiency.
