Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage planning design and construction projects including project scoping and master planning preparing budgets and schedules contractor selection contract negotiation design documentation review permitting public bidding construction administration and project closeout.
- Ensure compliance with design standards regulations and codes.
- Review project documents such as design drawings and specifications engineering calculations project reports and construction shop drawings for compliance with applicable standards and codes.
- Perform construction administration including contract execution payment reviews change order approvals and project closeout. Inspect construction work to ensure compliance with project specifications quality of materials and workmanship and adherence to specifications.
- Prepare plans specifications cost estimates permitting packages and bid documents for inhouse design projects.
- Conduct research and special studies pertaining to park facility development maintenance regulations and ordinances.
- Act as a liaison to various stakeholders including community groups boards councils and other government agencies.
- Manage and facilitate public engagement and communication while ensuring project inclusivity.
- Prepare project reports and presentations; maintain content for project websites public outreach and surveys; and apply for project grants.
- This job has no staff supervisory responsibilities.
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in engineering or a directly related field and five years of professional engineering and/or construction/project management experience in the area of assignment.
OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Licensing/Certifications:
- Valid Class C Drivers License with a satisfactory driving record or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Landscape Architects Architects or Professional Engineers license is highly preferred.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite software including Photoshop and InDesign; ArcGIS; and computeraided design and drafting software (AutoCAD).
Computer Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint).

- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly both verbally and in writing to diverse audiences.

- Ability to research technical issues offer recommendations and act as a subject matter expert.
- Skilled in budget development and management.
- Interpreting and applying applicable laws codes and standards.
- Critical thinking group facilitation and diplomatic decisionmaking.
- Providing excellent customer service internally and externally.

Physical Requirements:
Positions in this classification typically require fingering grasping talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.
Sedentary Work:
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.
- Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Working Conditions:
- Mostly officebased with occasional fieldwork.
- Some evening and weekend work may be required.
