Job Description

This is an exciting time to join United Living on our Apprenticeship Programme as the business continues to grow and we have a significant order book of secured future projects.

Our Infrastructure Services business delivers critical resilient infrastructure that improves daily life by partnering with our clients to achieve sustainable outcomes for their customers and communities. You will join our Water division who are a national provider of infrastructure and noninfrastructure water and wastewater services to UK water utility companies. We are looking for an Apprentice to join the commercial team and you will assist the Quantity Surveyors with the fiscal and contractual administration of projects being carried out. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and issuing subcontract enquiries and trade packages.
  • Assessing and comparing subcontractors quotes and drafting orders.
  • Preparing monthly reports.
  • Evaluating materials on site and labour time records.
  • Paying invoices through the finance system and preparing subcontractor final accounts.


As an Apprentice with United Living youll be given a real job from day one where you will gain handson industry experience and the knowledge required to achieve a nationally recognised qualification. Youll be inspired and stretched professionally but fully supported by an expert network of colleagues as you work to build the foundations for a career within United Living and the construction industry.

As part of your Apprenticeship you will be enrolled onto the Level 6 Chartered Surveyor (Degree) Apprenticeship on the Quantity Surveying pathway which will be delivered by our training partner the University College of Estate Management. The programme is 5556 months long and you will spend one day per week studying towards your qualification. The apprenticeship will be delivered online and include guided discussions and workshops as well as independent learning and reading and you will also receive onetoone support from your tutor or coach. They will also meet regularly with you and your line manager to ensure you are progressing through your programme.

Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship programme you will have achieved:

  • Level 6 Chartered Surveyor (Degree) Apprenticeship.
  • BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying.
  • Eligible for chartered membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).


To help you settle into your role well provide you with a buddy from our apprentice population. They will have some great advice as they were in exactly the same situation as you not so long ago and youll also receive full support from your Line Manager and the Early Careers Team who will help guide you throughout your apprenticeship programme to help you achieve professional success.


Qualifications :

In order to be successful in this role we would like you to have achieved or be predicted to achieve in Summer 2025:

  • One of the following level 3 qualifications or equivalent at the minimum level or above:
    • A Levels 96 UCAS points
    • BTEC Ext Diploma MMM
    • BTEC Diploma DD
    • TLevel P (Core C)
    • L3 Surveying Apprenticeship
    • UCEM BSc Access module programme
  • 5 GCSEs at Grade 94/A*C including English and Mathematics
  • Good IT skills and able to use Microsoft Office packages e.g. Outlook Word Excel etc.
  • Good organisation time management and communication skills.

You should also be available to start fulltime work in September 2025 and have:
