Job Description
Business Intelligence & Data Engineer
Position Summary:
We are seeking a BI Developer & Data Engineer to own and manage our BigQuery data lake data integrations and business intelligence reporting. This role will be responsible for maintaining optimizing and scaling our data infrastructure ensuring seamless data flow from key business systems (e.g. Shopify Cin7 GA4 Yotpo TripleWhale Figma Airtable). The ideal candidate will design and implement automated reporting solutions enhance data accessibility and support decisionmaking across teams.
This person will play a key role in reducing reliance on external contractors while overseeing any specialized external resources as needed. They will also be the primary administrator of our data environment ensuring accurate efficient and secure data management. Strong experience with modern BI tools (likely Power BI) and a working knowledge of Airtable are highly valued in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Management & Integration

Own and administer our BigQuery data lake ensuring optimal performance scalability and security.

Develop and maintain data pipelines and integrations across all key business systems including Shopify Cin7 GA4 Yotpo TripleWhale Figma and Airtable.

Monitor data ingestion and transformation processes troubleshooting issues and ensuring data integrity.

Optimize ETL/ELT processes to enable seamless data movement and transformation.

Collaborate with stakeholders to identify new data sources and enhance data accessibility across departments.
ECommerce Data Integrations & Personalization

Develop and maintain EDI integrations with wholesalers ensuring seamless data exchange for inventory pricing and order management.

Optimize and expand Google and Meta product feeds currently powered by Shopify to allow for greater customization and control over listings.

Support and refine product recommendation algorithms working with internal teams to optimize parameters of existing tools and enhance conversion rates.

Build and maintain a unified user database integrating customer quiz results purchase history and behavioral insights to create more robust customer profiles.

Collaborate with the Retention team to enable datadriven personalization strategies leveraging insights from customer data to enhance lifecycle marketing segmentation and dynamic content.

Ensure data integrations align with privacy best practices while enabling hyperpersonalized shopping experiences.
Business Intelligence & Reporting

Design and build automated dashboards and reports using Power BI (or other modern BI tools).

Develop and maintain selfservice BI solutions empowering teams to access realtime insights.

Ensure data consistency across reports maintaining a single source of truth for key business metrics.

Provide leadership with descriptive and predictive analytics helping drive informed decisionmaking.

Optimize and maintain data models to enhance performance and reporting efficiency.
Analytics & Insights
-
Analyze business performance trends and KPIs across sales inventory marketing and customer engagement.

Support leadership with ad hoc data analysis delivering actionable insights in a digestible format.

Work closely with crossfunctional teams (marketing product merchandising) to identify datadriven opportunities.

Leverage AI/MLdriven analytics where applicable to enhance business forecasting and operational efficiencies.
Governance & Data Security

Ensure compliance with data governance best practices (access control security and auditability).

Implement data validation processes to maintain highquality reliable data for all reporting.

Manage user permissions and access control across BI tools and data platforms.
Collaboration & Process Optimization

Reduce reliance on external contractors while overseeing specialized data engineering support when needed.

Work closely with business teams to improve data literacy helping nontechnical users extract insights effectively.

Identify opportunities to automate workflows and improve operational efficiencies across data pipelines.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Data Analytics Information Systems or related field (or equivalent experience).

3 years of experience in BI development data engineering or analytics ideally in an ecommerce retail or highSKU business environment.

Experience managing largescale data integrations across various SaaS platforms.

Proven track record of designing and maintaining BI dashboards and reporting solutions using Power BI or equivalent tools.
Technical Skills:

Strong expertise in SQL BigQuery and ETL/ELT processes.

Experience with data pipeline tools (e.g. Fivetran Airflow dbt or similar).

Proficiency in data modeling and warehouse architecture for highperformance reporting.

Familiarity with Python R or similar scripting languages is a plus.

Working knowledge of Airtable and how it connects to business intelligence workflows.

Experience integrating data from Shopify Cin7 GA4 Yotpo TripleWhale Figma and other SaaS platforms.
