The Production Engineer is responsible for overseeing the entire production process of aluminium fuel tankers and other trailers; ensuring efficient operations product quality and adherence to safety standards ensuring availability of all raw materials parts and consumables. This role involves process optimization troubleshooting and coordination with other departments to ensure the timely and costeffective manufacture of highquality fuel tankers and other trailers
Production Process Management:
- Oversee and supervise the daily manufacturing process of trailers ensuring production goals timelines and quality standards are met
Process Optimization:
- Continuously analyze production processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency reduce costs and improve overall productivity.
Quality Control:
- Work closely with the quality assurance team to develop and maintain strict quality control procedures ensuring the trailers meet safety design and regulatory standards.
Equipment and Machinery Maintenance:
- Ensure the proper functioning of manufacturing equipment and machinery with respective technicians coordinating regular maintenance and repairs to prevent downtime.
Troubleshooting:
- Identify and resolve any technical or productionrelated issues ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules.
Production Planning and Scheduling:
- Collaborate with the team leaders to allocate resources set production schedules and monitor progress to ensure the timely delivery of trailers.
Safety Compliance:
- Promote and enforce safety protocols within the production environment ensuring adherence to OSHA standards and factoryspecific safety guidelines.
Cost Control & Procurement of Consumables & Parts :
- Monitor material consumption labor and machine usage to maintain cost efficiency without sacrificing product quality.
- Ensure stocking of parts and consumables for process flow to be maintained.
Collaboration:
- Work with design procurement and maintenance teams to resolve issues improve production processes and implement new technologies.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate production records generate performance reports and provide updates to management on production metrics efficiency and any areas requiring attention.
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering Automotive Engineering Industrial Engineering or a related field. A Master s degree can be advantageous.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in engineering supervisory roles preferably within the automotive or trailer manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software for design and modelling (e.g. AutoCAD SolidWorks CATIA).
- Understanding of basic buying and sourcing within the market.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including welding machining and assembly techniques.
- Strong leadership and analytical skills to assess complex problems and develop effective solutions.
- Strong project management skills including planning executing and monitoring engineering projects.
- Effective time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and staying updated with industry trends.
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili languages. Chinese language would be an added advantage.
