Job Description
A.7. Planning Engineer
General Description
- The role will be required to support the Planning team in implementing all aspects of the planning scheduling and reporting of activities pertaining to the delivery of a Programme of Works
- The position is responsible for implementing all the tasks related to planning scheduling and reporting consistently across the Programme
Skills and Competencies
- Minimum of 10 years post graduate experience in major infrastructure Projects or programmes. Preference will be given to Drainage Pipeline Wastewater Treatment Plants and Pumping Stations TSE Pipelines Surface Ground Water Systems Underground Services and Civil Structures related experience.
- Demonstrable track record in the delivery of large multidisciplinary Projects
- Experienced user of Primavera P6 and MS Office
- Sound knowledge of planning and scheduling of roads and infrastructure Projects
- Sound knowledge of different contract forms e.g. FIDIC
- Experience in working on latest planning tools and techniques
- Experience in risk management tools and techniques e.g. Predict!
- Experience of working with consultant or client organizations
- Sound Knowledge of Extension of Time Claim analysis
- A rounded profile with experience in planning analysis and managing process
- Effective in building good working relationships both internally and with various Project stakeholders
Main Responsibilities
- Support the Planning team in developing updating improving and implementing plans procedures standards and systems for all the planning scheduling and reporting related tasks
- Coordinate with Supervision Consultant to ensure that the Project work breakdown structure is maintained in all the Projects
- Coordinate with Project team and Supervision Consultant to establish Projects baseline schedule and Progress measurement system consistently throughout the Projects in Programme
- Coordinate with Project team and Supervision Consultant to ensure that the management reports are properly prepared and accurately reflect the actual and forecast position of Projects
- Develop update and maintain integrated Program master schedule
- Analyse and report on Consultants schedules and monthly and weekly reports
- Ensure that approved Baseline Schedule is followed by all the entities involved and the Projects complete within the budgeted time and cost
- Effectively monitor and analyze the progress identify trends and recommend corrective actions
- Identify potential grey areas and raise early warning notices to Projects team
- Prepare reports to senior management within Ashghal pertaining to schedules
- To monitor and measure the performance of the Supervision Consultants planning team in properly ensuring the planning aspects of Projects
Qualifications & Criteria
Mandatory requirements
- Bachelors degree from a recognized university in Engineering or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills in English written and spoken
- Drivers License
Desirable requirements
- Masters degree in a relevant field
- Certificate in Primavera or equivalent software
- Arabic language skills
- Experience of working in Qatar or the Gulf region
