Staff Platform Engineer

Primary Function of Position:

As a Staff Platform Engineer you will head a team of talented and dedicated engineers within the Future Forward organization. This is an exciting opportunity to grow a technical team focused on developing new solutions to address significant unmet patient needs.

In this leadership position you will drive product definition and formative development activities in support of new or emerging applications aspiring to be hands while also leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers to deliver high value technical solutions.

Critical to the success of this role is experience in leading small technical teams to successfully drive market definition product specification and early engineering development for new technologybased instruments and platforms from inception to formal program launch.

Your role will be to combine technical acumen in the development of complex surgical platforms with special focus on embedded software and hardware with crossfunctional coordination across project stakeholders leading to th definition of project scope schedule milestones and delivery towards early feasibility studies regulatory clearances.

The successful candidate must excel in a highenergy small focused team environment be able to drive to solutions from rough requirements and methodical prototype iterations and have a commitment to high product quality that places patients first.

Quick learning and a desire to understand requirements from a users and engineerings perspective are essential to become a valuable system developer. A dedicated sense of shared responsibility and shared reward is required as is the ability to make work fun and interesting. Essential Job Duties

• Drive a technical team through earlystage product development and business validation of novel solutions.
• Drive direct reports to prioritize internal projects and processes to achieve functional and business priorities.
• Manage the team using resource planning goal setting and tracking career growth performance management hiring budgeting and spend management.
• Contribute with senior leadership to defining the direction for new products processes standards and operational plans based on business strategy.
• Represent your project ably in interactions externally with key customer collaborators and internally within the company.
• Lead in developing research and development plans and partner in financial performance strategy product KPI impact strategy as well as associated field validation studies for your program.

Qualifications :

Required Education and Training

• Minimum Bachelors degree or above in Computer Science Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or similar technical field.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in developing and supporting embedded systems (or 6 years with a Masters degree or 3 years with a PhD degree).

Required Skills and Experience

• Successful experience in hospitalbased healthcare technology realization from initial customer need identification through product launch.
• Proven ability to provide technical and tactical leadership for staff and peers in startup medical technology environment within a larger organization (entrepreneurship).
• Proven ability to hold both a program vision and drive effective tactics to achieve goals; ability to manage a complex high visibility/high impact project with multiple subteams within the program.
• Proven ability to engage key stakeholders and effectively seek ways to leverage technology to better address opportunities and challenges.
• Evidence of exceptional communication both within a team and with key opinion leaders (KOLs) regulatory authorities and customers.
• Evidence of successful development and leadership of a team of high capability technical professionals.
• Solid problemsolving skills and debugging of complex embedded software and electromechanical systems.
• Indepth knowledge of failure mode and risk analysis with experience working on safetycritical productfocused designs.
• Experience in all phases of the product development lifecycle including design implementation debug verification validation and transfer to manufacturing.
• Evidence of robust problemsolving skills and critical thinking.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels and organizations.
• A real excitement to learn and to get to the bottom of tough technical problems and to help patients lives.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Leadership of medical technology projects from inception through field validation to launch; Solid understanding of medical product ecosystem services.
• Proven skills in quantitative analysis and datadriven decision making
• Experience with intellectual property fundamentals
• Demonstrated capacity to relate to all levels of employees
• Experience designing software products in a regulated industry or for mission critical applications; comfort with concepts of design input design output traceability risk analysis and mitigations.
