Job Description:
The Data Engineering Lead will be responsible for leading the Data Engineering team and taking ownership of tasks related to data engineering data modelling ETL (Extract Transform Load) data warehousing and data analytics.
Your daily adventures include:
Lead the existing Data Engineering team:
- Take ownership and responsibility for specific department Objectives and Key Results and its related roadmap work
- Manage the daytoday operations of the Data Engineering team
- Manage incoming business requests and balancing delivery of these requests with the planned roadmap work
Own projects from start to finish which include:
- Gathering requirements from the stakeholders/clients
- Designing the solution endtoend
- Collaborate with team members to agree on the design and build and deliver the signed off design
- Validate the outcome with the stakeholders/clients
- Launch and continue to improve/maintain the deployed solution
Improve the existing data ecosystem and its related components:
- Improving automation and robustness of each component
- Improve data pipeline testing and data observability
- Infrastructure optimisation improving cost effectiveness of data movement processes and data storage
- Data governance: help build and deliver governance processes to continue keeping the data ecosystem compliant with the relevant laws and regulation
Requirements
What it takes to succeed:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Data Science Engineering or any relevant field
- Minimum 7 years industry experience working in a Datarelated field
- Proven track record of developing and maintaining ETL pipelines at scale
- Deep understanding of and experience in implementing Data Modelling & Data Warehouse structures
- Robust experience in Data Analytics and manage business stakeholders reporting/analytics requirements
- Proficient in SQL (Spark is a bonus)
- Experience working with structured and unstructured data
- Experience with software/ technologies that support structured and unstructured data(e.g.Postgres/MySQL/Maria or MongoDB/Casandra/DynamoDB)
- Demonstrable proficiency in at least one (or many) programming languages (e.g. Python Golang Java C etc.)
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS Azure GCP)
- Experience leading a team of Data Engineers (or equivalent field)
- Strong problemsolving and analytical skills
- Proven experience working in a collaborative team environment using Version Control
- Systems to manage code contribution and deployments
- Relevant skills and qualifications in big data technologies data visualization and financial services experience will be beneficial
- Experience with large analytics platforms (e.g. Databricks Snowflake BigQuery etc.) will be beneficial
- Experience using software and technologies for managing infrastructure as configurations (e.g. CI/CD coupled with Infrastructure as Code) will be beneficial
- Knowledge and/or experience in MLE and the role it plays in Data Science initiatives will be beneficial
What it takes to succeed: Experience in B2B selling of a tech service or SaaS product into the large business market. A prospective solid network of potential clients as well as reselling partners Experience in rapidly structuring and scaling a sales organisation in multiple locations, scale-up/start-up experience, would be advantageous Demonstrated Sales management experience, including hiring, developing and driving accountability. Proven ability to manage sales teams from different cultures in diverse countries. Experience with fast-paced scale-up environments thrives on the challenge of getting things done quickly and delivering results.
