Job Description
JOB PURPOSE:
To act as first line controlling and monitoring authority of electrical team to carry out operation and maintenance activities of electrical equipment. To conduct the operation and troubleshooting of 11 KV / 3.3 KV switchgear operation switchgear changeover operation transformer maintenance VFD soft starter operation and maintenance.
Daytoday Operations
Prepare electrical PPM planner and carry out preventive routine and breakdown maintenance according to the equipment manuals and standard work instructions.
Study the schematic drawings / control drawings of all electrical equipment.
Carry out routine inspection and condition monitoring like thermal scanner shaft voltage measurement for high capacity VFD operated motors according to O&M Manuals using special tools and equipment.
Ensure effective usage of electrical spares and consumables identifying and maintaining critical spare parts of the static and rotating electrical equipment.
Diagnose and determine required repairs for complex HVAC systems as well as repairs by replacement rehabilitating etc.
Initiate remedial actions against any malfunction or abnormalities found in the equipment.
Ensure repair and servicing of various type of equipment in the plant is done within minimum breakdown time so that the plant operation is not hampered.
Diagnose faults and perform preventive maintenance by inspecting and testing instruments and systems in use.
Acquire certification from Kahramaa for 11KV authorization to operate all 11KV equipment like switchgear and transformer inside the DCP plant.
Attend to all electrical faults in 11KV switchgear transformer 3.3KV switchgear VFD 11 KV soft starter LV switchgear and LV VFD and LV soft starter and motors.
Attend local factory acceptance test for electrical panels and witness site acceptance test for new panel installations.
Lead the electrical team for equipment testing and commissioning activity for the new DCP and punch list preparation.
Ensure repair and servicing of various type of equipment in the plant is done within minimum breakdown time so that the plant operation is not hampered.
Operate 11KV switchgear (Incomer Feeder) switching / scheduled maintenance required at every six months as per the KM procedure to maintain the 11KV limited authorization certificate.
Coordinate with KM DCC & KM Engineers during routine maintenance and inspections of plant substations as per the KM requirements.
Ensure availability of all electrical metering equipment and measuring metering equipment and relays periodical calibration.
Use company vehicles as required for visiting sites to perform maintenance activities.
Team Supervision
Provide guidance and on the job training for junior colleagues and conduct knowledge sharing to facilitate achievement of team objectives and completion of tasks in an efficient manner which is consistent with operating procedures and policy.
Budgeting and Financial Performance
Monitor the financial performance of a given area of activity versus budgets and ensure all activities are carried out in line with the approved guidelines while promptly reporting on any variances to management.
Policies Systems Processes & Procedures
Provide inputs and implement policies systems and procedure for the assigned team so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements fulfilled while delivering a quality costeffective service.
Continuous Improvement
Participate in the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems processes and practices considering global standards productivity improvement and cost reduction.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma
Certification from Kahramaa on 11 KV authorization
Valid Qatar driving license
Minimum Experience:
5 years of relevant work experience in a similar role in DC or any process industry
DC experience in GCC is preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical thinking and problemsolving skills
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and O&M manuals
Ability to apply engineering theory methods and practices
