Job Description

Site: Toronto Western Hospital
Department: Allied Health Emergency Department 
Work Model: OnSite
Reports to: Manager Allied Health & Geriatrics
Grade: D0:08
Hours: 37.5 hours per week 
Salary: $42.21 $52.76 per hour
Shifts: Monday to Friday 2.00pm 10.00pm
Status: Temporary Full Time (12 months) 
Closing Date: March 6 2025

Duties

  • Provides assessment and treatment of acute care inpatients at the Toronto Western Hospital
  • Provides evidencebased and patient centered practice to patients seen
  • Supports the development and implementation of best practice models of occupational therapy in the acute care setting at TWH
  • Works with multidisciplinary teams
  • Participates in the clinical education of occupational therapy students
  • Participate in Allied Health meetings and quality initiatives
  • In cooperation with other members of the occupational therapy inpatient team provides assessment and treatment for patients across the hospital as required areas of coverage may include:
    • Emergency Department Neurovascular Neurology Neurosurgery General Internal Medicine Cardiology Orthopedics General Surgery Geriatrics and ICU

Qualifications :

  • Masters of Science degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
  • Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO)
  • Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists membership preferred
  • Previous experience in an acute care Hospital environment preferred
  • Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) certification preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal time management and organizational skills
  • Must be physically capable of performing the daily activities associated with patient care and occupational therapy treatment
  • Experience in assessment and treatment of general internal medicine patients Ortho/Msk patients and patients with Neurological deficits
  • Demonstrated appropriate and effective written oral and nonverbal communication skills
  • Computer literacy
