Job Description

Senior Linux System Administrator for Leading Investment Firm in Cyprus

The Role:

We are looking for a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to join a team of talented engineers which is responsible for delivering missioncritical ultralow latency services to millions of clients across the world. You will participate in automating securing ensuring highest availability of the infrastructure and assisting the team to improve operational efficiency.

Tasks

  • Oversee and manage our entire Linuxbased platform infrastructure leading the planning design implementation and automated maintenance of systemlevel software and infrastructure
  • Design and develop complex scalable and highly available system architectures
  • Perform continuous health monitoring improve the stability/performance of the Linux Systems and troubleshoot issues that may arise
  • Stay at the forefront of industry trends and emerging technologies providing strategic insights to optimize our infrastructure and operations
  • Produce and maintain highquality technical documentation related to system architectures processes and incident reports
  • Liaise with crossfunctional teams including Application Support (SRE) Development Security and vendors to deliver optimum and secure solution
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers promoting best practices in Linux system administration architecture and security
  • Participate in teams on call rotation

Requirements

  • BSc/MSc in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field; or equivalent work experience
  • 3 years of Linux Systems administration; deep knowledge and experience with RedHat based Operating Systems
  • Expertise with shell command line usage scripting using automation
  • Deep understanding of Linux kernel system internals tuning performance optimization and debugging
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols and principles including multicast TCP/IP DHCP NTP and DNS
  • Handson experience in administering provisioning configuring tuning and monitoring of application web servers (Apache / Nginx) databases (SQL and NoSQL) logging (ELK) and HA systems (HAProxy)
  • Experience with the best practices of virtualised and/or containerised environments (VMware / VirtualBox / Docker)
  • Experience with technologies and methodologies of CI/CD processes (GitLab / Jenkins)
  • Selfdriven with ability to take ownership of issues and follow them through to complete resolution
  • Ability to use own initiative prioritise tasks and work either independently and / or within a team
  • Strong technical documentation abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Excellent problemsolving skills and strategic thinking with a focus on innovation and process improvement.

  • RHEL / LPI Certification
  • Experience with Content Delivery Networks (AWS CloudFront / Akamai Ion)
  • AWS Certification
  • Terraform/ Ansible experience
  • Expertise with container technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes
