The University of Manchester Genome Editing Unit (GEU) core facility provides a number of services and is responsible for the generation of custom transgenic mice genetically modified cell lines fruit flies and stem cells. Techniques include endogenous gene editing by CRISPRCas9 and the use of exogenous expression vectors (plasmids lentivirus bacterial artificial chromosomes). We work with several research groups in a variety of fields to support experimental model development and provide guidance in the application of the latest molecular technologies and genetically encoded tools. This post directly supports work in the BHF funded Centre of Excellence.
We are seeking to recruit a technician with experience in Pluripotent Stem Cell (PSC) culture and manipulation. The role will be predominately lab based. You would provide support to specific research projects with a particular focus on BHF Centre of Excellence projects. The ability to plan prioritise and schedule work is essential.
You should have a BSc (Hons) or higher with significant relevant experience including plasmid cloning PCR and DNA sequence analysis and cell culture skills. Importantly you should have enthusiasm for scientific research the confidence and ability to acquire additional skills where necessary and the motivation to work reliably and independently.
The position is full time and fixedterm for 36 months from 1st February 2025.
