Structural Engineering V

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Senior Structural Design Engineer to complete project design tasks on a parttime basis in the Oakland CA. office.

This position will involve performing building structure design analysis including plan preparation of structures in California as well as exposure to and contributing to project work throughout the Western U.S. 

This important role offers participation in a variety of challenging projects such as the Altamont Corridor Express Valley Rail Stations Project and a dynamic work environment due to the number type and size of structures that make up the vast portfolio of the experienced structure group this engineer will be joining.

• Lead Structural Engineer on projects including reviewing designs and plans.
• Providing specialized technical input on transportationrelated projects.
• Managing building structure projects including design tasks and coordination of work with engineering staff.
• Conceptual preliminary and detailed design of new bridges utilizing prestressed concrete reinforced concrete structural steel and timber components.
• Proficient in the use of computer software for the analysis and design of complex structures.
• Experience in preparation of technical specifications and design documents report writing technical engineering support and limited inspection during construction.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelors degree 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 10 years experience in structural design.
• Masters degree in structural engineering.
• Knowledgeable of California Building Codes ASCE7 AISC ACI and applicable Codes.
• Project management skills.
• Excellent verbal communication and writing skills including technical report writing.
• Structural problem analysis skills (including knowledge/use of design and calculation tools and software).
• Knowledgeable of other standard engineering practices techniques and applicable Codes such as AREMA AASHTO etc.
• Knowledge of current structural modeling software tools.
• A current PE license in the State of CA.

• Offered rate of compensation for Los Angeles CA. (and greater California) will be based on the individual education qualifications experience and work location. The salary range for this position is $72.00 to $212.00 per hour for up to 19 hours weekly.
