Job Description

  • Initial contract duration ASAP to 30 June 2026 with further extension of 12 months
  • Number of Extensions: 2
  • Location: ACT NSW QLD TAS VIC
  • Security Requirements: Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1
  • Working Arrangements: Hybrid
    Hybrid working arrangements (i.e. a combination of onsite attendance at an AEC office and remote working) will be considered at the discretion of the hiring manager. Applicants in other locations may also be considered. Where AEC accommodation is not available in the location remote working will be considered. Reliable internet access is essential for this role as it may require remote work and online collaboration.

About the Role:

SoftLabs is seeking APS6 Test Lead for ICT Labour hire at their technology consulting based in ACT NSW QLD TAS VIC.





Job Details
The AEC is seeking suitably qualified and experienced Test Leads to deliver and support a range of ICT projects/programs. Test Leads are responsible for leading a small agile testing team as well as being hands on with writing and executing Test Cases writing the Test Plan and Strategy and Test reporting.





Key duties and responsibilities

  • Working within multiple development teams to understand the scope of product releases and work with the team to develop acceptance criteria based on business objectives functional requirements and service level requirements.
  • Developing test plans test scenarios and/or test scripts for a specific release
  • Undertaking testing activities including functional integration and regression testing for each release cycle
  • Reporting and tracking the resolution of issues as they are found in testing
  • Assisting with issue triaging
  • Developing test reports
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required and directed by the relevant Director/Team Leader




About the project

Indigo Program (Tranche 2) The Indigo Program is a largescale transformation program to modernise business capabilities and replace core election ICT systems with a citizencentric agile technology platform. The Program will transform the AEC s delivery of electoral services and ensure ongoing integrity of the electoral system. Tranche 2 comprises a variety of work packages with a focus on business process reengineering data management legislative compliance and replacing aging systems.





Essential Criteria

  • 5 years dedicated testing experience and 3 years leadership experience
  • Strong communication leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency using tools such as Microsoft Test Manager Jira and Azure DevOps.
  • Proven experience of working in an Agile team
  • Strong experience with Backend API testing / interface: REST JSON XML
  • Strong experience with standalone .Net applications and websites
  • Strong SQL querying ability




Desirable Criteria

  • Bachelor s degree in information technology or computer science (or other relevant discipline)
  • Automation skills
  • Strong programming knowledge
